The Dry Suit allows the diver to dive in a greater range of temperatures while being more comfortable. No matter how good your wet suit is you lose body heat each time you dive. Over a series of dives this can add up to major discomfort. Because you do not have the direct water contact with the dry suit you do not lose the body heat as readily. This is accomplished by a combination of suit type and underwear. There are warm water and cold water dry suits. This course will help in the selection of the appropriate type of suit and underwear for your intended use. While the initial cost of a dry suit is greater then a wet suit you will get many more years of enjoyment out of the dry suit and you can use it for longer period.

What do I need to start?

PADI Open Water Diver or Junior Open Water Diver certification (or qualifying certification from another organization)
Minimum age: 10 years old

What will I do?

During your PADI Dry Suit Diver Specialty course, you'll not only cover the background knowledge related to dry suit diving, you'll get into confined water to put that theory into practice. Then, once you've mastered confined water, it's time for two open water dives and applying that knowledge, including dive planning, organization, techniques, problems and buoyancy control.

The cost: $215 each for a group of 2 or more or $325 for one. This includes one boat trip (two dives), classroom, pool, tanks and weights, and PADI PIC Card. Dry Suit Diver Specialty book and Dry Suit are required and are not included in the course price. You will need to provide two passport size photos (we have a drugstore next door that does them while you wait). Customer is responsible for transportation of themselves and their equipment during the course. There are no hidden costs in our program.
